Reporting Animal Abuse

Trinidad & Tobago has laws to protect animals. However, a law is only as good as its enforcement and that is why animals rely on you to protect them by reporting animal abuse.

Steps to make a report

  1. Have evidence whether is it in the form of a video or clear photograph of act being done
  2. Go to the police station and make your report, take the copies of the laws with you.
  3. Get a receipt of the report you made as evidence that you made it. That way you can follow up.
  4. If they DO NOT investigate it is within your RIGHTS to file a complaint with the Police Complaints Authority

Reporting a Fraudulent Veterinarian

Are you aware of an individual posing as a Veterinary professional although he/she is not licensed? Or do you wish to confirm that an individual is in fact a registered Veterinary Surgeon?

You can submit a report to TTVA to make further inquiries. Please note, your report must contain first hand, verifiable information (such as videos or written communication). It is an offence to practice veterinary medicine or surgery without being registered to do so.

The Animal Diseases and Importation Act (amended), Section 21 (3) outlines the penalties for committing such an offence.
